How it works

Enter one to twenty words, one per line. The maker preserves accented letters and converts words to uppercase. Spaces, hyphens and apostrophes are removed so phrases become continuous letter sequences. Each normalized word must contain at least two letters, fit the grid and appear only once in your list. Choose easy placement for rightward and downward words, or hard placement for all eight directions, including diagonals and backwards.

Activity settings

Select a 10, 12, 15, 18 or 20 cell square grid. The maker places longer words first, allows compatible overlaps and retries layouts when needed. It never silently omits a word. If the complete list cannot fit, enlarge the grid or use fewer or shorter words. Empty cells are filled with random A–Z letters; intended word positions are retained for the answer key.

Example

Use a space vocabulary list such as PLANET, ORBIT, COMET, STAR, MOON and SPACE. Generate the puzzle, then switch to Answer key to see lines through the intended words. Accidental extra matches can occur in filler letters; the key marks the intended placements. Use Another version for a new layout. Review vocabulary, reading direction and grid difficulty for your learners before distributing.

Frequently asked questions

Do the answers match the printed questions?

Yes. The student view and answer key use the same generated activity. Switching views does not change the questions or puzzle.

Can I recreate an earlier activity?

Use the same settings, vocabulary and version code. Only the most recent generated settings for each tool are saved automatically.

Are worksheets or student records uploaded?

No. Generation and browser storage are local. Printed name and date lines are blank; the app does not request student records.
